Every child and family that joins us becomes part of Ashby’s family, with an open door policy, dedicated open evenings and an active parent forum.
Ashby’s cosy downstairs rooms cater for the needs of babies whilst our upstairs rooms are designed for energetic toddlers and the Academy’s large open spaces support our preschoolers.
Our preschool children spend dedicated time at our forest school where a variety of outdoor experiences get them connecting with nature.
Our hybrid approach allows children to reach their full potential at their own pace and in their own time. And our home from home environment uses natural resources to engage children and ignite their curiosity and wonder.
With healthy snacks and delicious fresh food cooked every day by our onsite chef using local and seasonal produce when we can, children experience new flavours and look forward to favourite dishes while older children help in our kitchen.
We’re well known and loved by families in the local area who have enjoyed our wonderful nursery, preschool academy and magical forest school. As well as this, our families recognise the happy and confident transition their children have made from us to our four nearby primary schools.
Every day at Ashby we encourage children to be curious and imaginative in our wonderful learning environments and Forest School. In doing so, they soon develop a real love of learning.
Our experienced team comes with a wealth of early years learning insight. We know that every child is different with their own story to tell, so we make sure that your child learns in a way and at a pace that’s right for them.

My daughter loves all of the staff and talks about them at home. They have an app and update the parents with photos and messages on how my daughter is doing. Great security at the nursery and always feel like my daughter is safe there. Assisted with potty training! We also get a plan of what the curriculum is at the nursery so we know what the kids are doing each week. Can’t recommend enough

She can be incredibly shy, but she is now blossoming since she’s found her confidence at nursery. Every time she comes home from nursery she tells me she’s had a ‘good day’, which is obviously lovely to hear. The staff are always so welcoming; she is happy, and so are we as her parents. At Ashby Nursery School, our educators create meaningful opportunities for sensory discovery and help babies learn and develop new skills, from walking to talking.
After a busy morning of exploring and learning, there’s time to rest and recharge. We know how important naps are, and make sure that when they need it, babies can sleep.
You and your baby will develop a strong and meaningful bond with their key person who will ensure your baby’s individual needs are met, making their days at Ashby feel safe and secure.
As their story begins to take shape, growing toddlers are given the time and space to be more independent, discover and learn. Children make friends, learn to play alongside each other and become more aware of the world around them. Our experienced educators encourage language development too, starting with simple sounds and building to sentences.
Toddlers have free access our resources and immerse themselves in a world of discovery, wonder and learning. They’ll also enjoy our singing, rhyme sessions and story time too.
Ashby has its own renowned and respected Preschool Academy for children aged 3 to 5 years. Our experienced team prepare children for the school learning journey ahead with a focus on phonics, numbers and social skills.
The younger preschool children gain independence by choosing their own resources, developing their creativity with arts and crafts projects and exploring their senses with malleable materials. Our older preschoolers prepare for the transition to school with adult-led learning tasks, our home book reading scheme and regular holistic sessions in our very own Forest School.
By the final term at Ashby, children have made firm friendships and leave us as confident learners, ready for the next chapter of their own story.
Amidst all that learning, there’s plenty of time for play with games, creative activities and outdoor fun.
If children prefer some time away from the hustle and bustle, our quiet area is equipped with reading books and spaces to complete homework.
Whether it’s breakfast to start the day or a hearty meal after school, all of our nutritious food is freshly prepared daily.
